Happy Aloha Friday, ( BLOG LINK ) The dog days of summer are not quite over, yet! We are knee deep in them to be sure; and this one has been particularly brutal. But, did you ever stop ask yourself…”Self, what are the Dog Days of Summer ?” Well, just so happens that I did. Here is what I found out: “The phrase is a reference to Sirius, the Dog Star. During the “Dog Days” period, the Sun occupies the same region of the sky as Sirius, the brightest star visible from any part of Earth. Sirius is a part of the constellation Canis Major, the Greater Dog.” That puts the “Dog Days” smack dab in the middle of the summer: July 3 rd to August 11th! What is there to do on these hotter than hot days (Other than wait for a heat storm to roll in, drop some soothing rain, just to roll out so that the sun can steam up the joint as it evaporates the rain that just fell)?
