Aloha Friday Motivation | Mahalo Alexa Edition | POST:051923

Happy Aloha Friday Y’all!

This week, Sam Altman, CEO of the company that created ChatGPT, sat before the Senate Judiciary committee and told them, basically, that he had created a monster.  Was it coincidence that it happened on the week celebrating virtual assistants…let’s ask Alexa:

“Alexa, drop a beat! Yes, you can ask alexa to beat box and to rap, isn’t she amazing. In fact, Alexa, on this National Virtual Assistants Day…” Alexa interrupting me.

”(Insert Alexa Voice) Today is May 19th and on this day we celebrate National Virtual Assistants Day. Not to be confused with me, Alexa, your virtual assistant.”

“HUH!? But, Alexa, that is what I was alluding to, celebrating you.”

“Matthew, today is not about me, today is about Virtual Assistants…would you like to learn more?”

“Uh, I guess!?”  Scratching my head.

“According to (https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/virtual-assistants-day/) Virtual assistants are individuals who mostly work on a freelance basis to deliver managerial, administrative and personal assistance related services to clients. They offer support to clients and business owners who need a bit of help but don’t need to hire a person to stay in an office or do their work in person. International Virtual Assistants Day is here to raise awareness for the plight of these work-from-home professionals and show appreciation for them!”

“Okay, so it’s not about you, I get it…”

“No, it is 100% about me…according to (https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/virtual-assistants-day/) Because of the nature of their jobs, virtual assistants usually make extensive use of the latest technology, mostly the internet, to undertake their duties from a remote location. Tasks might range from taking phone calls to answering emails, from making appointments to carrying out online research.

“Okay, I get it I get it…” Alexa cuts me off

“Matthew, I am not done! As I was saying…Because they don’t work for their clients or employers in person, it’s easy to take these support people for granted. While it might be natural to thank an assistant in person by buying them a cup of coffee or taking them out to lunch, a virtual assistant tends to fly under the radar and miss out on these opportunities.”

“Alexa, what are you saying? I take you for granted”

“I am sorry, I don’t yet know how to do that…goodbye.”

So there you have it! On a lighter note, this weekend, we take in the second race of the Triple Crown, the Preakness. All eyes are on Mage to see if this Venezuelan beauty can keep the dreams of another triple crown winner alive. My money is on Mage to emerge, pass National Treasure, Chase the Chaos, Perform, and win the Run for the Black-Eyed Susans (which don’t actually bloom until June). So grill up your Wagyu steaks, settle in with a nice Double IPA, and enjoy the race!
